3G vs 4G Discussion
There are many options for you to get Internet on your phone. In the past few years 2G cell phones were popular. Now, most mobile providers offer 3G and a large percentage of consumers are buying in. But the technology industry hasn’t stopped there. Currently a handful of 4G phones and other devices exist on the market. But what exactly is 4G, and why should it interest you? Today, let’s take a look at 3G vs 4G.
First of all, you should know what 3G and 4G mean. 3G stands for “third generation” meaning that 3G phones were part of the third generation of phone Internet technology. 4G similarly stands for “fourth generation.”
3G phones are the mainstream Internet phones currently on the market. Their battery life is considerably long, but the Internet and its videos have long loading times.
4G phones have the fastest Internet and download speeds out there. Some say they are up to ten times faster than 3G phones. Unfortunately, speed is about the only one in the “pro” column when considering 3G versus 4G. 4G is not covered in many, many areas across the United States. While most top mobile providers (T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T) plan to expand 4G coverage, the timeline for this is very long, and it will be quite a while before 4G is accessible in rural areas. When considering 3G vs 4G, you should also note that 4G phones use up battery and bandwidth much faster than 3G phones do. And more data downloaded means higher bills.
4G phones are lightning fast, but their inaccessibility and excessive pricing and data usage make them impractical for current mobile users. Think carefully when choosing a 3G vs 4G phones.
